I've got a '73 Bird which is in need of a pedal change from a stick to an auto. Anyone got an extra brake pedal lying around? Most people go the other way with this swap, so I assume that the larger brake pedal is not in high demand.

    Got one?

what kind of trans are you taking out of yours? I'm looking to pick up a better trans for my 73, it is also a manual. We could possibly help each other out, part swapping? I've got quite a bit of engine parts, not sure if any are use full, but would be cool to pick each others brains.

I've just got what I quoted you in the other post. One 4-speed that was disassembled and put into a new case and the other 4-speed that came out of my Bird that I'm converting back to an auto for the drag strip. I'd probably want $1500 for the one that has been gone through and $1000 for the one that came out of my '73 (it's not original to the car though).

Whether they're worth that in the marketplace is yet to be determined, but that's what they are worth to me at this point. The one that has been gone through I have a receipt for just under $1000 for the work that was done on it. The other one I drove myself and it shifted great.

I know you can find them out there for cheaper, but you'll usually get what you pay for. Not always, of course.

By the way, do you have an auto brake pedal?

Good question, I'm not real sure on that... Maybe you should pull off the 3rd gen go pedal and see if it would work. Would be very interesting to know that one! Jeff D

Hey, what happened to my post about using the 3rd gen pedal in place of the 2nd gen? Jeff, did you hit EDIT by chance instead of doing a new post? Something is fishy...

Got a First Gen pedal. Don't know if that would help you though.

Anyone know if 1st gen, 2nd gen, and/or 3rd gen pedals cross over to one-another??? I did pull the 3rd gen pedal from the car I parted out, but haven't held them up together yet (they are in different locations).

I'd go with whatever crosses, so if anyone knows about interchanging generations of pedals, please chime in!

Why not cut the pedal off and reweld the wider one on and heat the bar and bend where it needs to go. You should see what my hotrod pedal looks like compared to what it started out as.
Also why change it out unless you are going for 100 percent original looking. I have the 3 pedals still in the car with the TH350 I race, just in case I want to go back easily.

The question was not where to get one (I can do that easily), the question was whether they cross generations. I have a 3rd gen lying around and wanted to know if it would fit. The pedal is in one place and the car is in another, so I just haven't matched them up to see for sure. I doubt it, but no one has offered the knowledge of whether a 3rd gen would fit, and since a 1st gen was offered by 'First Bird', the question was posed whether that one would work as well. I don't see an answer to either of those questions, so I will just assume that they don't cross.

As for taking one off, welding it, bending it, etc, why would I go through that time and effort if I could just buy one for $25? Or better yet, I have one lying around--does it cross over? Seems like a big fat NO. Not having a welder doesn't help either.

Telling the computer guy where to look on eBay to buy parts also seems a bit redundant. I know you mean well though, and I take it as a joke. It's all good here...

They do not cross over just as the 1969 pedal assembly is different than the 1967 68s. Go figure.
Yes it was a joke but it seems that you were looking for one as you have taken out the 3rd gen as a doner. Also the post title reads "Looking for a 2nd gen brake pedal".

The topic was started before I even bought the 3rd gen, so the cross-over question was an afterthought. I bought the 3rd gen to help someone get rid of it and make a few bucks to fund the '73 project while I was at it.

I parted out an '80 T/A a couple years ago, but didn't keep the pedals--didn't think anyone would ever need them (and no one has asked since then either). Little did I know I'd need one myself...

Sounds like '69 is all by itself then! Or is it the same as 70.5-81?

It still sounds like you are looking for a brake pedal after all these posts?

Not looking too hard obviously. Heck, the car doesn't even have an engine or trans...I think I'm a ways off from caring about how large my brake pedal is...

I might have one. I have a pedal that I think came out of a '75. It looksto be the same length has the one in my '70 but has a couple extra bends in the bar. It's yours if you want it.

Cool beans! Where and when??? Will you be at the tour next weekend? If not, then I could probably meet you somewhere else during the week. I'm also going to be out and about this afternoon, and I could probably come to you. What part of town are you in?

    Just let me know...
